The law regarding what you can do and how much you can spend is strict, and it is important to be aware of them and make sure everything you do is within the spirit and the letter of the law. This law is there to protect democracy.

During the election period, you must limit any spending, actual or in kind, to no more than £700. Outside the election period, there are also spending limits. If you are in any doubt, contact the Electoral Commission. The people there are extremely helpful and will be able to advise you.

When it comes to your approach to the campaign, of course that is up to you, but please bear in mind that we want a new kind of politics based on honesty, decency and transparency. So we will try to make sure that our criticisms are fair and can be backed up by evidence, that they are not personal attacks and that they are limited to things that are relevant to policy making. This means not repeating allegations that have not been properly checked or ones that are just insults or are not relevant to policies.

If, as an organisation, you want to direct your members or supporters to get directly involved in our campaign then the best thing to do is give them our website address and ask them to sign up to volunteer.
